Sew Your Own Way is everything your trashy ex wasn't.
But while we have no tools to mend your broken heart, this site offers a
range of tips for fixing up your clothes,
showing off with decoration, or even just where to follow other saucy sempsters.
Which is everything you could reasonably want and expect, right?
Sew Your Own Way was first realised in the outskirts of
Letchworth
in the mid 16th century. Customers would shout angry points of criticism about the mending of their clothes,
and the sempstresses, who for whatever reason could only present themselves as exactly
like a crude caricature from a Renaissance comedy play,
would come back with equally abrasive comments about the fact that they should do it themselves then.
This would invariably escalate into an altercation between the angry customers and the sempster’s husband,
a throwing-down of gauges, and a fight to the death. Standard stuff really.
Since then the group has gone from strength to strength, improving its forms of communication slightly.
We are mostly an organisation of outward-looking and kind-hearted individuals,
although our web dev team is on its final warning.
This site aims to bring together all those interested in sewing -
for all environmental, practical, and aesthetic purposes.
We offer Tips&Tricks, Showing Off and Social content, so you can find what you want,
even if what you want is just to watch people making things in full drag
while you trawl through Instagram at 4am on a Friday.
We are hoping to announce a series of events coming up in the near future,
marking out important dates in the sewing calendar such as the Blood Moon,
the anniversary of Margret Thatcher’s death, and of course our all-time favourite,
Mercury Retrograde.
SewYourOwnWay is a site where everything and nothing is about the lost art of sewing,
and certainly nothing is as it seams.
